OVERALL…

life in Esquimalt is pretty special. We’re talking about spectacular waterfront views (hello Olympic mountain range), a growing community, schools for pre-k’ers up to 12th graders, scenic walking routes and MORE.

walk time!

One of the beauties of all the neighbourhoods in Victoria is the accessibility of getting out in nature. Island life here on the west coast of Canada provides nothing short of abundance and Esquimalt holds some of the most beautiful scenes in all of Victoria. To name a few:

  • The West Bay Walkway (pictured left): Getting in your steps for the day is easier than it looks when you take the West Bay Walkway to downtown instead of driving or hopping on the bus. The path is aprroximately 5KM long and is a real breath of fresh air — literally!

  • Macaulay Point Park (pictured middle): Truly beautiful. Spread out on Buxton Green here and enjoy a socially distanced picnic; spend the afternoon exploring the old military bunkers, watching birds, collecting rocks on the various beaches, playing with pups… or simply a moment of zen.

  • Saxe Point Park (pictured right): Idyllic — another fantastic picnicking spot. This park is seriously so beautiful, that Esquimalt High School has been known to use the space for graduation photos — and has surely been used for weddings. Explore the trails and coves, but bring your camera because it is seriously picturesque.

must VISIT:

  • Spice Valley Indian Cuisine: new to ESQ — and hopefully here to stay because this place is simply the best. Check out their menu here.

  • Esquimalt Roasting Company: another newbie to ESQ, and welcome addition. Walk for your morning coffee and a delicious baked good.

  • Esquimalt Recreation Centre: Hands down one of the best gyms in the community centre for Greater Victoria. 2 levels with a stellar weight room. Don’t forget the steam and sauna room for after you’re all done.

  • Sushi Story: this place will make you like sushi if you don’t already.

  • Blue Nile Restaurant: delicious traditional east African dishes - an Esquimalt favourite!
